Blanket & Buttonhole Stitch | |||

1. Blanket
Stitch: Bring the thread out on the lower
line, insert the needle in position in the
upper line, taking a stitch straight downward
with the thread under the needle point.
2. Buttonhole Stitch: This is worked the same way as blanket stitch, except the stitches are worked very close together. It is sometimes used for finishing scalloped edges or in cutwork. 3. Long and Short Buttonhole Stitch: Also used for a decorative edging with the vertical stitches worked alternately long and short. |
